The DBO supervises the operations of state-licensed financial institutions, including banks, credit unions and money transmitters. Additionally, the DBO licenses and regulates a variety of financial service providers, including securities brokers and dealers, investment advisers, payday lenders and other consumer finance lenders. The DBO has been notified of a website,, that advertises itself as a bank-deposit broker that can obtain higher interest rates on bank deposits for consumers. is not licensed as a bank and is not insured by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC).

"StableWallet California Inc." fraudulently offering escrow services using’s DBO license number (05/10/2019)

The DBO has been notified that an entity calling itself "StableWallet California Inc." or "Stable Wallet Escrow" is falsely purporting to be a licensed Escrow company with the DBO. "StableWallet California" is not licensed to conduct escrow business in California.

“Approved Project” or “America First Credit Union” fraudulently purporting to hold DBO license (03/12/2019)

The DBO has been notified of individuals offering loans, who are fraudulently purporting to hold a DBO license using the name “Approved Project” or purporting to be a national credit union in Utah named “America First Credit Union.” When asked to show licensure, these individuals electronically send a fraudulently altered copy of a DBO license.
