RaAnn Wood Appointed Credit Union Deputy Commissioner

(San Francisco, CA) - Commissioner of Financial Institutions William S. Haraf today announced the appointment of RaAnn Wood as Deputy Commissioner, Credit Unions, for the Department of Financial Institutions (DFI).

RaAnn Wood, of Los Angeles, was appointed Deputy Commissioner effective October 24, 2008.

Ms. Wood has extensive experience in the credit union industry. Her most recent position was CEO of California Center Credit Union, Rancho Cucamonga, CA.

Before joining the credit union, Ms. Wood served as the Professional Networks Manager for the California Credit Union League (CCUL), in the Education and Training Department following five years with the League's Research and Information Department. RaAnn previously served as a Research Analyst with where she monitored and analyzed regulatory developments, evaluated the impact of technical, operational and regulatory issues on credit unions, and assisted member credit unions with compliance questions via the research and information hotline.

She is a nationally recognized instructor for CUNA's Regulatory Compliance School. RaAnn uses her extensive background in real estate lending and compliance issues and her 25 years of experience in financial service industries to educate credit union compliance and mortgage lending staff throughout the nation.

Ms. Wood will be located in the Los Angeles Office, 300 S. Spring Street, Suite 15513, Los Angeles, CA 90013-1204.

DFI supervises over 700 state financial institutions. Maintaining the integrity of financial services remains the primary mission of the Department. The DFI is responsible for administering state laws regulating state-licensed financial institutions: banks, credit unions, industrial banks, trust companies, offices of foreign banks, issuers of travelers' checks and payment instruments (money orders), and money transmitters. In addition to posting information about licensees, the DFI Web site features consumer tips on a variety of financial topics. DFI reports to Business, Transportation & Housing Agency Secretary Dale E. Bonner and Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger.
