California, Washington and Oregon to Remember Victims with Moment of Silence

SACRAMENTO - Governor Gray Davis will join Governor John Kitzhaber of Oregon and Governor Gary Locke of Washington tomorrow (9/14) in leading a minute of silence throughout the West Coast.

The moment of silence is in concert with President Bush's call for a national day of prayer and remembrance in memory of all the victims of Tuesday's horrendous terrorist attacks against the United States of America.

In remarks at a prayer service yesterday, Governor Davis said, "We are all one people. We may have different faces, but we are one people. We are all God's children. We are all Americans."

California Senate and Assembly members will join Governor Davis in the Assembly chambers at the State Capitol for the minute of silence at 12:30 p.m. The governor invites communities statewide to hold their own gatherings and unite the state of California in tribute to America by simultaneously observing a minute of silence.
