    Wealth Building Policy Project

DFI is joining with the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco to assist the National Council of La Raza (NCLR) to conduct the Wealth Building Policy Project.  This consists of 25 guided telephone interviews with community lending executives that serve key Low and Middle Income Latino and Immigrant markets.  Through these interviews, NCLR seeks to better understand how community-based lenders will be affected by their access to the secondary market after impending GSE reforms are enacted.
Among the communities that have been selected for the project are:

    • Bakersfield (Kern County)
    • Fresno (Fresno and Madera counties)

Participants must be small to medium financial institutions that make loans in those communities to low and middle income Latino borrowers, whose income fell between 50 percent and 120 percent of local median incomes.  The participants' institutions must currently increase mortgage lending monies through GSE securitization or would like to increase GSE securitization or would like to increase GSE securitization at their institutions.
